Dear Brother, Your letter mailed the 20th Sept. I received the 29th. I mailed a letter to Mother last Thursday from 28 miles north of this place. We marched here Friday and Saturday and most of us feel about used up. I was lame last night for the first time on the march and my feet are getting sore but I am better this morning and if we rest a day or two shall be all right again. We may stay for some time and may move tomorrow towards Nashvi1le. We shall probably stay there a good while perhaps all winter. It is about 75 miles from here. We expect our tents soon. Most of the boys that were left sick at Louisville have come here by RR. Some of them are well enough to go along with us. B. Moore and Pratt are still at Louisville. Moore is well and on duty there as Provost Guard. So is McDonald. Pratt is sick with 1iver complaint. Char1ey Tuttle accidentally shot off the end of his left forefinger yesterday. I understand that there is a lot of mail in town for this Division. Hope I shall get some. We expect to get paid soon. Philander hinted to me before I left that I might have another sister before I got home. Well I am glad of it. He has made a first rate selection. Love to all the family and friends and will ye please call on Billy VanLoo for their letter and if you don’t get it, write soon and let me know. Yours truly, Chauncy
